Silvopasture is definitely applicable to Maui. Raising livestock has always been a big part of Hawaiian culture and I know local ranchers/farmers will benefit greatly from this. In fact, I know a vast majority of the ranches on Maui have implemented silvopasture already, such as Ulupalakua Ranch and Kaupo Ranch.
With the trees being integrated into farmland, carbon sequestration will be greatly increased (To sequester means to keep in or hold). Out of the 823 million hectares suitable for silvopasture, around 550 million hectares are currently practicing it. If we were to bump that up to 720 - 770 million hectares, CO2 emissions can be reduced by 26.6-42.3 gigatons. That's alot!
